Why I’ve Given up High Street Shopping

Today I have been told off by some overly officious shop assistant in Greggs because good lady wife and I went in together to get a coffee and it’s not allowed. I’ve been Bollocked by some old bag behind the checkout in Asda for not standing in the right place and not accepting the receipt she was trying to force on me. And now I’ve just been told off by some jobsworth in the village chip shop because my son and I dared to go in together to look what was in the display before ordering.

I am absolutely sick to bloody death of lock down rules, petty shop keepers, who clearly don’t understand the law nor how viruses really spread, and of being treated like a leper in every shop I go in. I would love to go for a beer next week when the pubs finally open again, but I just know I’m going to end up killing some overly officious barmaid so I don’t think I’ll bother.

Apart from the regular grocery shop in the supermarket I’m a purely online only shopper from now on. Retail is dead they say. Yes I agree, it was a suicide though, killed by a lack of customer focus and overly officious staff
