12 Apr 2021- Pubmas Day

A friend of mine said he could hardly sleep last night for excitement because it was Pubmas Eve and with today being Pubmas Day he woke early with excitement. Yes folks, today is the first day pubs have been open for months. I’m going to wait a few days for the initial excitement to wear off and for the staff to calm down a bit before I go. Instead I had a 21-mile ride around the villages on my road bike and went past the village pubs. Here’s my report:

The Thorold Arms, Marston – Closed

The Stag, Barkston – Closed

The Brownlow Arms, Hough on the Hill – Open and reasonably busy

The Wagon and Horses, Caythorpe – Open and half full

The Red Lion, Caythorpe – Open and not very busy

The Five Bells, Claypole – Open and quite busy

The Wheatsheaf, Dry Doddington – Open and rammed full

If anyone wants to sponsor me to go on a tour of these pubs, sample a pint in each and report back with pictures, let me know and I’ll give you my details. £30 should cover it……….LOL
