As I lay in bed this morning drinking tea and watching the weather forecast it was 50/50 wether I was going to get my backside out of bed and go for a ride or make a second cup of tea. I was really glad the ride won, especially as the forecast was for rain in the afternoon.
This is a route I’ve ridden several times before. Setting off from the village of Dry Doddington it is mostly flat and good going on generally quiet roads. The route goes through the village of Claypole in to the centre of Newark and out again to Fiskerton, where it passes close to the River Trent and through several other villages to cross the River at Lowdham. The return to Dry Doddington is cross country via quiet country lanes. A total of 40 miles with lots of things to see and numerous opportunities for refreshments along the way.
