For the first time in years it wasn’t raining on New Years Day and I was looking forward to our annual walk with the NOTFAST Running Club. I’m not actually a member; however, my wife is and, as she frequently reminds me, I’m entitled to 3 outings per year before I have to put my hand in my pocket and pay the membership fee.
NOTFAST seemed to have enjoyed a fairly prosperous year in 2014 and, having organised a few beginners classes, their membership has increased. They now regularly turn out 20 or more runners on a Tuesday and Thursday evening. Even though the focus of the club is on running nine walkers turned out for the 12 mile walk. We set off in unusually mild weather and walked briskly along tracks, paths and roads easily covering the 12 miles in around 4 hours. A big thank you to Stuart Ashley for planning the route and for managing to avoid the worst of the mud and a big thank you to those who attended for the pleasant conversation mixed with some healthy banter. Hopefully you’ll get some idea of the route from the map below. As always we retired to the Muston Gap for an excellent carvery.
