Good lady wife and I were discussing the difference between happiness and misery last night and we’ve concluded it’s the mortgage.
We started later in life than many with a mortgage and family so have had a bit of catching up to do, which we’ve pretty much accomplished. The problem is each month we just about break even. Yes, we have holidays, drink a moderate amount of beer and have the occasional meal out, but at the end of the month there’s nothing left and there’s no real contingency fund either. It doesn’t worry us that much but without paying the mortgage each month we’d be inordinately more happy. We’re even reasonably content in our jobs, so once the mortgage was settled we’d just carry on.
So if anyone can give us £60k with no strings attached we can wipe the mortgage away and we’ll be happy for ever more. All offers gratefully received…..!
