When I went in to Newark earlier in the week I was struck by the stark contrast in some of the trees near the town centre. Some like the ash, horse chestnut and sycamore were already bare whilst others like the beech were in full autumnal glory. The tree I was most impressed with though was the weeping willow. Still in full leaf with little signs of going over. The weeping willow is always the last tree to shed its leaves in Autumn and always the first in to leaf in spring. In a mild year it can be without leaves for as little as 10 weeks. A truly green tree.
