I was out truck driving around Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire today and I just couldn’t believe how quiet the roads were. Also last night I collected my lad from the Station in Newark and not only were the roads dead, but so were all the pubs and restaurants. When I was a teenager Christmas and New Year was a two to three-week extravaganza that started in mid December now it doesn’t really seem to start until 23rd December and is all over by Boxing Day with just a single night’s celebration on New Year’s Eve. Despite the change one thing that has remained constant is the whole of January and half of February have always been lean times for the hospitality industry and great if you need to drive anywhere.
