It’s that time of year again when I go round hopelessly looking for the first shoots of spring to cheer me up on yet another dreary overcast day. Today, my lad offered to take me out for lunch and on the way back, as we opened the door, I looked down and there they were in my own garden; the very first shoots of spring, poking through the manure I used as a mulch over winter. I’m not sure what bulbs the shoots are coming from because the front garden has so many different types, but there’s no mistaking, these are green shoots and in some very small way…….it’s started.
