This popular Dark Peak hike takes you from Lady Bower Reservoir up steep, wood-lined ravines to emerge on top of the moors. On a clear day expect phenomenal views of the Derwent valley and its unique gritstone (sandstone) tors.
Today the views were in abundance and the sky crystal clear with recent snow adding to the beauty. At around 8 miles the walk is easily accomplished by the moderately fit with a slightly steep start before plateauing out for the majority of the way and finally descending gradually back to the shores of Derwent Water.
