Another day and another lunch break explore. This time to St Andrews Church in the Lincolnshire village of Helpringham.
I’ve said this before and I’ll repeat it again, I don’t have a religious bone in my body and I’m not even a believer; however, I do have an unhealthy fascination for churches.
Out of all the churches I’ve been in St Andrews is one of the more welcoming. For a start it’s got carpet on the floor along the isles and courtesy of a recent funeral it was beautifully adorned with real flowers. There were lots of welcoming little nooks and crannies and It had a busy and habitated feel about it. Despite the grey skies outside it was full of colour but was also God damn freezing inside. The sort of cold that saps your very will to live. Such was the cold as I stepped outside I felt a warming breeze even though it was only 3 degrees Celsius.
I spent less than five minutes trying to summon up somebody from another world or time and gave up. Definately one for a summer visit.

You will be pleased to know that we are just in the process of installing a new heating system into St Andrew’s Church, Helpringham!!!!! Imagine how cold it has been over winter!!! Thank you for your lovely review and photo’s of our Church – we are glad you enjoyed it – Fee Lightfoot – Churchwarden.
